A Christian View of Caring for Animals: Ethical Training, Making a Difference, and Saying Goodbye

Jacob Hollingsworth

M.A., KPA-CTP, CTDI, CCC, SDJ, All-Star-TC, AKC Evaluator

Over 70% of the U.S. population identifies as Christian and roughly 68% of U.S. households have pets. Yet, the Church is mostly silent on companion animals and many have used their faith to justify mistreatment of animals. This lecture will look at why some people misuse faith to justify unethical animal stewardship and how to respond to those dangerous beliefs. Jacob is in a unique position to address this topic having both respect in the professional dog training community and being a licensed seminary educated minister. This is applicable to those who wish to have a better answer for what their faith has to say about pets as well as professional trainers who want a better understanding of a worldview shared by most of their clients.

Jacob is a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner and has been an active member of the Do More With Your Dog community for 9 years.
