Although I competed in many different dog sports, I have found the most joy with my dog in doing tricks. I love the way we stare into each other’s eyes, and I love how collaborative the trick training process is. After teaching Chalcy many tricks, we stumbled into success with a few TV shows (Pet Star, The Tonight Show) and eventually became a professional stunt dog team performing live shows around the world at professional sports halftimes, trade shows, circuses, corporate events, and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

I started this company in 2000 by establishing trick titles as a way to motivate people with a goal to work toward. Do More With Your Dog! has evolved into more than just a company; it is a team of like-minded people who encourage, support, teach and learn from each other. And now you are part of our team! \ud83e\udd1d<\/span><\/p>\n

Founded in 2005 by Kyra Sundance, Do More With Your Dog!\u00ae was originally a dog training curriculum program which focused on teaching tricks in a step-by-step method utilizing positive reinforcement techniques. This curriculum was so popular amongst trainers, that Kyra wrote a book based on these techniques. 101 Dog Tricks became an international bestseller, and has been translated into 15 languages. Kyra followed with many more books and DVDs which expanded upon the original Do More With Your Dog!\u00ae curriculum.<\/p>\n

Positive Training Philosophy<\/h3>\n

“If you aren’t having fun, you aren’t doing it correctly.”<\/h4>\n

Positive reinforcement is the easiest, most effective, and most humane way to teach a behavior: you get your dog to do a behavior, you give him a treat\/reward, and he learns to repeat the behavior. Positive reinforcement training methods strengthen and enhance the relationship between you and your dog as you work collaboratively toward a mutual goal in an encouraging, stress-free and fear-free environment. The dog participates in the learning process with a positive attitude, and enjoys working and interacting with the trainer. By utilizing positive training techniques, we raise a dog who is confident, communicative, and eager to please.Successful dog trainers today do not view training in isolation of the totality of the dog\/owner relationship. We look at training not as something that happens during a specified session, but rather as something that occurs with every interaction with your dog. We recognize the core of dog training as the dog\/owner bond.<\/p>\n

    • frustration or anger<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      There are many types of collars, harnesses, and head halters available today, and they can be the source of controversy amongst dog trainers. We realize that it is not the collar but the trainer<\/i> that defines the humaneness of a training relationship, but we also recognize that in the hands of a novice or misguided dog owner some collars have more potential than others to harm a dog. Do More With Your Dog!\u00ae<\/i> requires that dog tricks and canine conditioning fitness exercises be trained through positive methods which do not utilize chain, prong, or remote (electronic) collars, as these types of collars are associated with compulsion training techniques which do not, in any way, represent the Do More With Your Dog!\u00ae<\/i> positive training philosophy. It is our hope that as trainers gain more knowledge about positive techniques and become more experienced in their use, they will incorporate more positive methods in all areas of their training.<\/p>\n
