Rules:

NOVICE TRICK DOG (NTD) RULES: 15 tricks (Adv/Exp count as 2 tricks if not lured). Luring allowed on half of tricks. PRE-REQUISITES: None

  • Demonstrate 15 tricks from the Tricks List.
  • You can demonstrate tricks from any level.
  • Advanced and Expert level tricks count as 2 tricks if they are not lured, and 1 trick if you use luring.
  • For the Novice title, tricks do not have to be perfect.
  • Do not physically manipulate the dog into a trick; do not push/pull the dog.
  • Treats and toys may be used as a lure, but on no more than 50% of the tricks. This means that on half of the tricks you may hold a treat in your hand and use it to guide your dog into position (as in “spin circles”). On all of the tricks you may give a treat at the end of the trick.
  • Tricks must be taught and performed using only positive methods.
  • If you perform an Intermediate, Advanced, or Expert trick for your Novice title, you may still use that trick again for your next title.
  • Tricks do not have to be performed on the same day. Your evaluator may sign of on each one individually.
  • You may submit video of your trick for evaluation.

INTERMEDIATE TRICK DOG (ITD) RULES: 12 Intermediate or higher tricks (Adv/Exp count as 2 if not lured). OK to re-use a trick from previous title. Lures on no more than 25% of tricks. PRE-REQUISITES: Novice Trick Dog (NTD)

  • Demonstrate 12 Intermediate or higher level tricks from the Tricks List. 
  • You can demonstrate tricks from the Intermediate, Advanced, or Expert levels.
  • Advanced and Expert level tricks count as 2 tricks if they are not lured, and 1 trick if you use luring.
  • Do not physically manipulate the dog into a trick; do not push/pull the dog.

  • Demonstrate 5 Advanced or higher level tricks from the Tricks List.  
  • Do not physically manipulate the dog into a trick; do not push/pull the dog.
  • All off-leash.
  • A pointed finger is OK, but no treat or toy lures during the trick. You may reward the dog after the trick.
  • Handler may give multiple cues, but may not badger the dog, nor hover over or crowd the dog.
  • Tricks must be taught and performed using only positive methods.
  • If you perform an Expert trick for your Advanced title, you may still use that trick again for your next title.
  • Tricks do not have to be performed on the same day. Your evaluator may sign of on each one individually.

EXPERT TRICK DOG (ETD) RULES: 5 Expert  tricks.  PRE-REQUISITES: Advanced Trick Dog (ATD)

  • Demonstrate 5 Expert level tricks from the Tricks List.  
  • Do not physically manipulate the dog into a trick; do not push/pull the dog.
  • All off-leash.
  • A pointed finger is OK, but no treat or toy lures during the trick. You may reward the dog after the trick.
  • Handler may give multiple cues, but may not badger the dog, nor hover over or crowd the dog.
